Study in Australia: Applications for Australian Government RTP Scholarship closes Tomorrow
The research period 1 and 2, 2025 deadline to apply for the Australian Government RTP Scholarship is tomorrow, September 13, 2024. The offers will be received from November 22, 2024.
Study Abroad: The Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship is funded by the Australian government. The last date for the research period 1 and 2, 2025 is tomorrow September 13, 2024. The value of the scholarship is up to $143,881 which includes a living-costs stipend for international research students.
The scholarship program is open to the international postgraduate research student. The selected candidates will get $40,109 per annum. To be eligible for the scholarship, one needs to be an outstanding student and researcher, and have an unconditional admission offer for the course or currently enrolled in the PhD or master's by research at the University of Sydney.
The duration of the scholarship is up to 7 research periods for Research Masters studies and up to 14 research periods for Research Doctorate studies. No extension will be provided in this tenure. At the time of award, the applicants must be an international student.
"Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend International Scholarship (‘the Scholarship’) holders are expected to enrol in a full-time postgraduate research degree. The relevant Associate Dean (Research Education) may approve a part-time RTP Scholarship where the University is satisfied that there are special circumstances beyond the student’s control (for example medical conditions, financial hardship, career responsibilities)," reads the official statement.
The RTP stipend can also be deferred for up to one research period with the approval of the relevant Associate Dean and their supervisor. The selected researcher gets the RTP stipends for the duration of a professional practice activity, research internship and industry placement.
RTP Scholarship: Selection Criteria
The applicant gets this scholarship based on research experience, academic merit, availability of top-quality supervisory arrangements, resources and research environment to support the candidature.
The preference will be given to the candidates who have not previously received a University or Australian government scholarship for an HDR course, identify as Torres Strait Islander or Aboriginal person as per the policy of the University of Sydney, and have not completed an HDR course previously at the same level of study.
