Macquarie University is offering various Graduate Research Scholarships to support exceptional graduate researchers. All these scholarships are competitive and awarded to students who demonstrate high academic merits and research potential. The last date to apply for the scholarship is October 31, 2024.
It is applicable to the following courses - Master of Research (MRes) for international and domestic students, Graduate Diploma of Research for international and domestic students, bundle offers of Master of Research and PhD (MRes + PhD) only for domestic students, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses for international and domestic students.
Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarships Benefits
These scholarships offer one or more of the following benefits:
- living allowance (stipend)
- fixed sum or one-off payment
- tuition fee offset
- top-up living allowance (additional funding on top of base stipend), and
- visa application and/or Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
"From 1 January 2025, the standard rate for stipend scholarships awarded to graduate researchers at Macquarie University will be raised by ten per cent to $38,500 per annum (full-time rate). The Graduate Diploma of Research scholarship is valued at $5000 per session and is paid as a lump sum," reads the official statement.
Eligibility Criteria For Macquarie University's Graduate Research Scholarships
The applicants need to meet the minimum entry criteria for the course they are applying. They are advised to use the scholarship search tool to review the available courses listed when considering their application.
The university assesses the applications based on the research experience and academic merit. The applicants whose research topic will match Macquarie University's research priorities will also be considered.
Scholarship Types, Other Details
The types of scholarships available for international students include - the International Research Training Program (iRTP) and International Macquarie University Research Excellence (iMQRES).
The scholarships are awarded to high-performing international and domestic students who meet the following criteria:
- The applicants who are enrolled for full-time courses at the census date in the upcoming session.
- They must have GPA of ≥ 6/7 or enters the university with WAM ≥ 80.
"Eligibility for the scholarship in each session is confirmed 1–2 weeks after the session census date. Successful students are notified by the Graduate Research Academy via email," added the official statement.
