Study In Canada: Waterloo Researchers Awarded Over $10 Million For Various Projects

The researchers at the University of Waterloo have received a whopping funding for a number of projects including improving the electric automotive industry, 6G network innovations, and 3D printed materials.

Ontario Research Fund (ORF) awarded the University of Waterloo’s twenty-two researchers funding of over $10 million to support various projects in the electric automotive industry, 6G network innovations, and 3D printed materials.

Nolan Quinn, Minister of Colleges and Universities commented, “When we invest in research, we invest in our province’s future. These critical investments will ensure Ontario’s researchers can continue making discoveries that drive key sectors, create good-paying jobs, and improve the lives of all Ontarians.”

Charmaine Dean, vice president, of Research and International said, “Thank you to our provincial government partners for this significant investment in research operations and infrastructure. From enabling sustainable commercialization of metal additive manufacturing to developing the future of 5G communications to advancing sustainability in the automotive sector, Waterloo’s successful projects not only drive innovation in Ontario but also have clear commercialization potential, maximizing the value of the investment.”








Dr. Raouf Boutaba, Faculty of Mathematics has got $2,000,000. His project is on advancing the next generation of 5G and 6G network innovations. Dr. Slim Boumaiza, Faculty of Engineering also got $2,000,000 for projects on 6G radio systems, Dr. Hamid Jahed, Faculty of Engineering received $2,000,000 for making the automotive industry more sustainable, and Dr. Ehsan Toyserkani, Faculty of Engineering has received $2,000,000 for advancing sustainability of metal additive manufacturing (3D printing).
