The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University in collaboration with Thumbay Pharmacy and Modern Pharmaceutical Company (MPC) recently celebrated World Pharmacists Day.

The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University recently organized the World Pharmacists Day. It was celebrated in collaboration with Modern Pharmaceutical Company (MPC) and Thumbay Pharmacy. The event highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists in handling health challenges of the local community and at the global level. The theme was aligned with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) theme, ‘Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs.'

Prof Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor, of Gulf Medical University talked about the significance of hosting the gathering and said, “Today, we celebrate not just the achievements of pharmacists but the power of collaboration in health professions learning at the Gulf Medical University. By learning together and working together, we empower our students to become leaders who will drive meaningful change in global health and enhance the well-being of communities everywhere," as reported by Daijiworld.com.

Gulf Medical University World Pharmacists Day Celebration Details

The event saw the gathering of 500 people including industry leaders, alumni, and students. Prof Muhammad Al Shorbagy, dean of the College of Pharmacy started the event with his welcoming remarks. He encouraged aspiring pharmacists to follow their dreams of becoming pharmacists and he urged them to work hard. He highlighted the notable contributions of the pharmacy profession.

Dr Osama Tabbara, founding president of the IVPN-Network offered a keynote session titled ‘Are You an Exceptional and Impressive Student/Pharmacist?’

Dr Saeed Nabil, a clinical pharmacist and representative member of the International Relations Committee of the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) talked about ‘Empowering Future Pharmacists: Leading the Way in Global Health Innovation.’








700 medicos sworn in during 26th White Coat Ceremony

The Gulf Medical University welcomed the 2024 cohort of medical students in its six colleges and conducted the 'White Coat Ceremony'. The new 700 students will join the foreign community at the university which now totals at 5,000 students from 102 different countries. These students are enrolled in a variety of courses and programs related to medicine and healthcare.







Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group said, “I extend my best wishes to the new cohort of health professions students. Your journey toward becoming a healthcare leaders commences here, and Gulf Medical University will support you in all your career aspirations.”

“The interaction among individuals is an essential skill that will remain steady during their time at Gulf Medical University. Patients, students, healthcare practitioners, and medical instructors all possess a shared humanity. The capacity to communicate effectively, build relationships, engage, and empathize will remain a core component of training healthcare professionals,” said Prof. Hossam Hamdy, the university’s chancellor.
