Study in US: Applications open for State Scholarships Foundation Fellowship 2025

Interested candidates must submit applications through the scholarship portal on the official website. The last date to apply for the 2025-2026 academic year is October 8, 2024.

Applications are open for State Scholarships Foundation Fellowship 2025. This scholarship is for the US PhD candidates for the academic year 2025-26. Fulbright Greece and State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) have partnered to offer this scholarship. The last date to apply for the State Scholarships Foundation Fellowship 2025 academic year is October 8, 2024.

In this academic year, four American doctoral candidates will get up to four scholarships which will cover their round-trip travel costs from USA to Greece. The students will be given financial assistance for the initial set up in Greece, to purchase research-related materials and other necessary consumables.

Study in Greece - latest step for international collaboration

To boost international ties 'Study in Greece' is the latest step in Greece. It is a national agency which attracts international students for summer courses and staging winter.

Professor Dr Christos Michalakelis co-founder and president of SiG told University World News, “No longer just a project, but a national agency – consisting of representatives of all 24 Greek public universities, backed and funded by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, SiG is entering a new era regarding the repositioning of Greece in the international education landscape and rebranding of the country as a study abroad destination."

Recently scores of faculty, students and staff participated in the academic exchange program between Fulbright Greece and College Year in Athens.

Pharos Summit, George Tsunis, the US Ambassador to Greece, told University World News: “The US participants (70) were honoured and grateful to travel to Greece and visit the Greek campuses, and this experience only strengthened everyone’s intention to create and deepen academic partnerships.”

While talking about the various prospects of US universities in Greece, he said that the collaboration is beyond classical studies. It is in the fields of technology, science, informatics, economics, engineering and mathematics (STEM), nutrition, and more.

"The personal interest and willingness of officials at the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs to adopt a holistic approach regarding the internationalisation of Greek higher education has helped move these initiatives forward," added Michalakelis.
