Study In US: Applications Open For Summer 2025 SUSI For Secondary Educators
The last date to apply for the Summer 2025 SUSI For Secondary Educators is December 22. All expenses of the participants will be covered including housing and travel allowances.
Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSIs) for Secondary Educators offers the foreign secondary school educators and administrators an opportunity to participate in intensive post-graduate level academic programs. It offers international educators an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the US, culture, society, institutions and values.
"The program goal is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in secondary schools and other academic institutions abroad," said the statement of the U.S. Embassy in Chile.
The deadline to apply for the Summer 2025 SUSI For Secondary Educators is December 22, 2024. The selected nominees will be notified in January 2025 and the selected nominees will then compete with nominees selected from other countries. The participants will be announced in early April 2024.
"The SUSIs will provide three multinational groups of 20 experienced secondary school educators (including secondary school teachers, administrators, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, Ministry of Education officials, and others) with a deeper understanding of U.S. society, education, and culture – past and present," said the Embassy's statement.
Selected Educators To Spend Four Weeks In US
The selected educators will get four-week academic residencies in US university and college campuses. The residencies will include a balanced series of panels, lectures, workshops, readings, site visits, seminar discussions, cultural activities and meetings with practitioners in education. There will be study tours and academic residencies to showcase the geographic, cultural, and ethnic diversity of the United States.
"The program features curriculum based on the study of how America’s foundations and historical development have shaped and continue to inform U.S. politics, economics, and society. Community service activities are a key cultural component of the program and provide participants with a first-hand experience of how volunteerism plays a vital role in U.S. civil society. The program will offer multiple opportunities for follow-on engagement through alumni webinars, grant-funded follow-on projects, social media, and an alumni workshop," added the statement.
All selected participants' costs will be covered such as travel allowances including ground transportation and domestic travel, housing and subsistence, book, cultural, mailing, and incidental allowances, and participants’ international and visa travel costs.
