Study in US: ASU Named Fulbright HSI Leader For Third Year
In total 50 institutes in the US were recognized as Fulbright HSI Leader. Arizona State University is among the 28 doctoral-granting institutions to be named as the Fulbright HSI Leader. ASU has received this award for the third year.
Arizona State University has announced that it has been named a Fulbright HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution) Leader once again. U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs awarded this designation to ASU and 27 other doctoral-granting institutions.
ASU is recognized for its achievements in two areas - for its success in placing the students and faculty into the prestigious Fulbright program and services to the Hispanic community.
While commenting on this achievement, Kyle Mox, associate dean of national scholarship advisement in the Lorraine W. Frank Office of National Scholarships Advisement (ONSA) at ASU said, “One of the wonderful things about Fulbright and why it aligns so well with ASU and why we’ve had such tremendous success is that the Fulbright mission of inclusion matches the ASU Charter."
“Given our demographics, just by encouraging our students to apply, we provide Fulbright with a broad range of backgrounds and life stories and types of students. This is recognition of how well we’re helping to contribute to the larger mission that Fulbright has," added Kyle Mox.
Nancy Gonzales, ASU executive vice president and university provost, said, “As a global research university with a charter that calls on us to make positive impact in the communities we serve, it is vital that all members of our academic community engage beyond the U.S. to share knowledge and pursue solutions. Being recognized for the third straight year as a Fulbright HSI Leader demonstrates our ongoing commitment to promote global exchange and scholarship opportunities for students and scholars who have historically been underrepresented in this critical higher-education experience.”
16 ASU Students To Participate In 2024 Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge
After winning the Best Systems Engineering award at the Las Vegas Forum, the ASU AEGIS team has won the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge.
It is a NASA-sponsored competition for students to design, create and test their projects. The competition will help them to prepare for aerospace careers.
Tyler Smith, senior director of ASU’s Luminosity Lab said, “It's an amazing experience for the students who participate. They have the opportunity to work on a real project to advance the technology-readiness level of a concept and further NASA's mission to return to the moon.”
