Study In US: FSU College Of Motion Picture Arts Acquires Theater For College Expansion
For decades Florida State University College Of Motion Picture Arts has lacked an exhibition facility and relied on external venues.
Florida State University College Of Motion Picture Arts acquired the Governor’s Square theatre complex in Tallahassee to offer required space for production design, virtual production, opportunities for screening films and a new entrepreneurial feature film program. Through this acquisition, the college is all set to enhance its production facilities.
Reb Braddock, dean of the College of Motion Picture Arts commented, “When the film school was established in 1989 with the mission to prepare students for successful careers in the motion picture industry, it was given nearly every tool needed to become one of the greatest colleges dedicated to film education — except one: a movie theater of its own."
Florida State University Middle East Center To Host 16th Annual Middle East Film Festival
Florida State University is all set to host the 16th annual Middle East Film Festival to offer insights into international cinema.
Zeina Schlenoff, director of the FSU Middle East Center and teaching professor of Arabic said “The festival has become a highly anticipated event in Tallahassee. It is a highly informative occasion for our FSU students and the wider community to learn about this diverse, cultured and fascinating region of the world. Our films represent a broad perspective on the socio-political realities of the recent Middle East.”
Schlenoff added, “All the films have something heartfelt and personal to say. They are stories of family, adventure, hope, persistence and inspiration. Each year, the festival offers a selection of food, entertainment and discussions to complete each evening’s experience, and this year is no exception.”
FSU, Opening Minds Through Art Collaborates
The university collaborated with Opening Minds Through Art for an exhibition to showcase the artwork created by people with dementia.
“The mission of OMA is to build bridges across age and cognitive barriers through art, which Art in the Library aims to celebrate with this exhibition. OMA’s work brings together both our student and Tallahassee communities and is indeed something to be celebrated. Art in the Library is thrilled to highlight their good work with our program," said Leah Sherman, chair of Art in the Library.
