79% of total residents are undergraduates, Black undergraduate students enrolment is up by 2.5% and Hispanic enrolments increased by 3.6%.

Study in US: University of Illinois Urbana gets record enrolments in Fall semester

Study Abroad: The University of Illinois announced a record number of Fall enrolments. The total number of students stood at a record 97,772.

"Total enrollment for the universities located in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield topped the previous record of 94,861 established in 2022 and increased last year’s enrollment by 3.2%. First-year freshmen enrollment of 13,689 represented a 3.5% increase over the 2023 record of 13,231, and the total undergraduate enrollment of 61,944 surpassed the 2023 high mark of 60,013 by 3.2%," said the official statement.

“A hallmark of our great university is excellence at scale, and we are delivering on that statement now more than ever. We have an impressive track record of not only enrolling students, but also ensuring they are making progress, graduating and going on to careers or graduate programs. We are committed to making sure that continues to be our reality," said Chancellor Robert J. Jones.  

Most are undergraduate enrolments

79% of the university residents are undergraduates. The university reported an increase in the enrolment of Black and Hispanic undergraduate students 2.5% and 3.6% respectively.

"The University of Illinois System is committed to access and affordability, illuminating a pathway for talented, inquisitive students from all walks of life. It is heartening to see the progress we have made, and we are redoubling our efforts to ensure there is even broader awareness in communities throughout our state of the opportunity that awaits them," said President Tim Killeen.
