The university has ranked number 1 in Florida for work by its graduates in the health professional shortage areas. Moreover, in this category, it ranked at number 17 among all public and private institutions.

Study in US: FSU College of Medicine is positioned at number one in U.S. News rankings for commendable work by its graduates in shortage areas.

Dr. Alma Littles, dean of the College of Medicine said, “This ranking is particularly important to us, as it speaks directly to our mission of preparing physicians who will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in communities of greatest need. This is why we are here — and this is one of the primary reasons why the Florida Legislature established this college 24 years ago. I am pleased that this ranking validates the commitment of our students, our alumni and the hard work of our faculty and staff who make this possible.”  

It has also achieved high among all public colleges ranked in the survey and was positioned at number 30 for its graduates who practice in primary care areas such as internal medicine, family medicine, general practice, geriatrics, paediatrics, and obstetrics/gynaecology. It is at number 39 for having diverse student bodies, and at number 88 for graduates practicing in rural areas.

"As of July 2024, the FSU College of Medicine has 1,953 physician alumni, with 1,074 in practice and the remainder either in residency or fellowship programs or having chosen another career path. More than 53% of practising M.D. alumni work in Florida," reads the official statement.








FSU 2024 summer commencement on Aug. 2

The university is all set to conduct summer commencement ceremonies on August 2. Distinguished speakers Tim Cerio and Charlie Ward will address the graduates. Charlie Ward is an NBA player, Heisman Trophy winner and former FSU quarterback. Tim Cerio is president, CEO and executive director of Citizens Property Insurance.







It is expected that the university will award 2,834 degrees including 187 doctoral degrees, 882 master’s/specialist degrees, 1,693 bachelor’s, 66 Juris master’s degrees, 3 Juris doctor degrees, and 3 LLMs. There will be a doctoral hooding ceremony at 9 a.m., and two ceremonies — at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. for specialist, master's, and bachelor's degrees.
