The University of Manchester is offering MSc in Climate Change: Science, Society and Solutions. In this program, the students will get to choose three elective units from various offerings across disciplines.

The University of Manchester has invited applications from Indian students for an MSc in Climate Change: Science, Society and Solutions. The admissions are open for the 2025 intake. The program offers a unique perspective on the climate change. The tuition fee for the international student is £31,000 per annum.

Department of Geography is going to lead the course and various other departments will contribute including the Global Development Institute and Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.

Through this course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to respond to human-induced climate challenges. The students will be empowered with critical thinking and applied understanding to explore options like solar geoengineering and greenhouse gas reduction while improving communication skills and fostering research. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and it covers scientific fundamentals, societal and political contexts and mitigation strategies.

“The program caters to those interested in careers in local, national, or international climate policy; climate change innovations in businesses and industries; corporate social responsibility (CSR); advocacy or lobbying for climate action in non-governmental organisations (NGOs); or academic research on climate change. Students can specialise based on their interests and goals with various elective units. Guidance is provided throughout the induction process and program to support individualised specialization,” says the official statement of the university.








Students of MSc Climate Change: Science, Society and Solutions will get to choose three elective units from a range of offerings across disciplines including Education and Development, School of Environment, the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, the School of Social Sciences, Geography, University College for Interdisciplinary Learning, and the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures.







Eligibility Requirements For MSc Climate Change: Science, Society and Solutions

The following are the entry requirements for the course:

  • The applicant must have a three-year bachelor's degree from a reputable university in a relevant subject.
  • In the bachelor’s degree, they must have obtained First Class Upper Second (2.1) classification or have secured a minimum of 60%.
  • Students are invited from diverse educational backgrounds.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 overall is required with a 6.5 score in writing and no element should be below 6.

There are various scholarship options available for international students at the university and some are also from Indian governments including - Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship (Jharkhand), Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (Rajasthan), National Overseas Scholarship Scheme, and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship (Maharashtra).
