University Of Manchester In Top 100 Across All Subjects In World University Rankings By Subject 2025
Study in UK: Times Higher Education announced the World University Rankings by Subject 2025 yesterday, the University Of Manchester has been placed in the top 100 across all subjects.
The University of Manchester has been placed in the top 100 across all subjects in the latest World University Rankings By Subject 2025. For five subjects it has been placed in the top 50. These subjects include Engineering, Business Economics, Social Sciences, Medical and Health and Arts and Humanities. Its best performance is in Business Economics where it was placed at 32 and in Social Sciences it is at the 37th position.
The university is among the top 100 globally across all 11 subject categories. It has been achieved only by 7 other UK universities.
While commenting on it, Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, said, “This latest influential global subject ranking provides additional evidence of our research and teaching strengths across the University – something to pause on and celebrate as we develop our Manchester 2035 strategy. Having achieved this global standing our job now is to work together, with ambition and focus, to do even better.”
Professor April McMahon, Vice-President for Teaching Learning and Students, added, “It’s a pleasure to welcome these rankings for our University, which demonstrate our strength and breadth across so many subject areas. It is important for us to benchmark our results to guide us in improving our design and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in Manchester even further.”
University Of Manchester Performances In Latest Rankings By Subjects
In THE's World University Rankings By Subject 2025, all universities were evaluated for 11 subject areas and their performance was scored in 5 core pillars of evaluation including research quality, research environment, teaching, international outlook and industry partnerships.
The university has performed well in other rankings by subjects also, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, the University Of Manchester was in the top 35 worldwide for each of five broad subject groups. For Engineering and Technology and Arts and Humanities, it was placed at position 27 and for the Social Sciences and Management at 28, Life Science and Medicine (30), and Natural Sciences (33).
In another ranking 2024 Shanghai Rankings’ Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (AWRU), it was in the top 25 globally in seven of the 46 subjects. In this ranking, the University Of Manchester ranked number 1 in the UK for four subjects and for 21 subjects, it moved up due to its research and its impact, says the university statement.
