University of Sheffield UK: Apply Now for Computer Science (AI) with an Industrial Placement Year BSc
Some modules of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) with an Industrial Placement Year BSc overlap with the main Computer Science degree which gives a strong grounding of fundamentals.
Study in UK: The University of Sheffield has invited applications for Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) with an Industrial Placement Year BSc course. The four years duration course will commence in September 2024.
"Computer science with AI is the study of machine intelligence, including bio-inspired algorithms, their relationship to living intelligence and the nature of consciousness itself. Put your learning into practice with the opportunity to work in industry for a year," reads the university statement.
In this course, the student will learn the technical skills of a computer scientist. They will also learn to be system designer, effective communicator and a solid team player.
In 2024-25, the annual tuition fee of the international student is £29,110.
The annual fee also includes a number of other elements than tuition fees. As part of tuition fees, the student will get an electronic textbook which the student needs for module in Level 1. Other modules may incur some costs such as travel costs which will be reimbursed to the students.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility requirements:
- 80% for the West Bengal Board
- 85% in XII for CBSE, CISCE and Maharashtra State Board
- 90% for all other boards including Maths and Computer science
- English language requirements include IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component; or
- An alternative acceptable English language qualification.
Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) with an Industrial Placement Year BSc Details
During the first year, students will develop a grounding in the fundamentals, and next year they will get the opportunity to develop a real software system for a real client in a competitive environment.
“The main focus of their final year is a dissertation project, where they will enjoy scope for creative and intellectual exploration. Optional modules such as Modelling and Simulation of Natural Systems, Cognitive and Biomimetic Robotics and Bioinspired computing give students the scope to tailor their degree to their interests,” added the university statement.
