University Of Strathclyde Invites Applications For MRes Physics
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow has invited applications for the MRes Physics course commencing in January 2025.
The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow is currently accepting applications for its MRes Physics course commencing in January 2025. It is an advanced research-focused Master’s degree which can be completed either full-time in a one-year duration or part-time in a two-year duration. The Department of Physics has multiple exciting projects to offer with Physics research in focus.
While pursuing this course, students will get to work on the extended research project. It will help them develop their research skills and will also improve their understanding of key topics of physics by choosing from taught modules. The projects are supervised by expert staff. The fee for international students is £25,250.
MRes Physics Details
Students can undertake their degrees from any of the four research divisions which include Optics, Nanoscience, Institute of Photonics and Plasmas. The academics of the university are involved in the world’s leading research such as quantum simulation and quantum technologies, fundamental and applied cold atom physics, laser-plasma interaction and laser-based particle acceleration, and plasma physics and advanced microwave sources.
“Students will acquire skills enabling them to navigate a successful career in academia, research institutes or industrial research and development by training not only in paper and report writing but with an introduction to project proposal writing and review. They'll get detailed technical training in the methodology, instrumentation and data analysis relevant to their chosen field of research,” reads the official statement.
MRes Physics: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the course, the candidates must have a first-class or upper second-class (2:1) UK Honours degree from a recognized institute, or an equivalent overseas degree in a related subject. The English language score requirement is 6.5 with no component should be below 6.0.
Who Should Apply For MRes Physics
It is specially designed for people who are interested in PhD studies or a position focusing on Research & Development at a research institute or company in the near future.
After the successful completion of the course, the students can get a PhD project from the university. To get more information on the programme, the students are advised to attend a webinar on October 24.
“The webinar will provide an overview of the January MRes Physics, presented by department staff, and offer a Q&A session where students can ask any questions they may have,” added the official statement.
