University Of Sydney's Early Career Researchers Secure $9m Funding
The Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme awarded funding to 19 early career researchers at the University Of Sydney.
Study in Australia: The Australian Research Council’s Discovery Early Career Research Award Scheme has granted funding to nineteen researchers from the University Of Sydney. The university bagged the second-highest number of these awards totalling $8.97 million.
RC Acting Chief Executive Office Dr Richard Johnson said “offers exciting opportunities for Australia’s promising early career researchers to develop in supportive environments. As well as boosting Australia’s research and innovation capacity, DECRA projects result in new technologies and ideas, leading to new jobs, economic growth, and ultimately improved quality of life for Australians.”
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Emma Johnston said, “This is a fantastic result for our early career researchers and for the University of Sydney more generally. Thank you to the ARC for supporting our hard-working researchers across a wide range of disciplines which span our Faculties. These awards recognise the quality and breadth of our expertise at the University and will set these academics up for long, fruitful careers tackling the biggest challenges facing our world. Early career researchers are such an important part of our research ecosystem and I am extremely proud of their success.”
University Of Sydney Secures $36M Funding Boost For Research
The researchers at the university have secured over $36 million for 57 new research projects across climate change, and industrial innovation in AI of ARC Discovery Projects scheme government.
Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Research) Professor Julie Cairney said,“The ARC Discovery Projects scheme is incredibly competitive, and it’s fantastic to see so many projects from the University of Sydney recognised in the latest round. To have 57 successful applications from across the University’s faculties and schools, out of 536 awarded nationally, speaks to the calibre of our academics’ expertise and our world-leading facilities which enable research excellence.”
ARC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr Richard Johnson, commented, “Discovery grants support individual researchers and research teams in research projects that provide economic, commercial, environmental, social and/or cultural benefits to the Australian community."
Moreover, as part of Visiting Fellowships scheme, Sydney Law School has welcomed 10 leading researchers in 2025.
