University Of Tasmania: Admissions Open For Master Of Marine And Antarctic Science

University of Tasmania (UTAS) is currently accepting applications for its Master of Marine and Antarctic Science program to commence in 2025.

This is the only degree in the world to combine marine science with an emphasis on the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. It offers students a doorway to a natural marine laboratory right outside their home and to Antarctica. For students who want to work in fisheries, aquaculture or marine biology, the University of Tasmania is an excellent place to start learning.

The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) offers students globally renowned professionals to mentor them for a promising career and it also provides world-class facilities.

The approximate tuition fee is $94,813 AUD. Semester 1 starts on Feb 24 for all specialisations, and Semester 2 starts on July 21, 2025, for all specialisations.

Eligibility Requirement For Master Of Marine And Antarctic Science

The following are the entry requirements:

  • The candidates must have a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science or Graduate Diploma in Marine and Antarctic Science or equivalent such as Bachelor of Science with a major in life sciences.
  • IELTS (Academic) with at least an overall score of 6.0 and no individual band less than 6.0, OR
  • TOEFL (iBT) overall score  should not be less than 72 with no less than - 16 each in Reading and Listening, 18 in Speaking and 22 in Writing OR
  • PTE Academic overall score should be a minimum of 50 with no score less than 50.
