University of Warwick Leads AI Discussions

The University of Warwick academics are leading the new discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) to find out its usage to benefit local communities.

Professor Theo Damoulas from Warwick’s Department of Statistics and Computer Science commented, “AI is used for a range of purposes, from shop placement to monitoring sewage, but its hidden presence creates misunderstandings about its role in addressing local needs.”

The university's researchers joined international and national partners under AI in the Street project to examine how AI technologies such as drones, sensors and smart traffic systems can be used for society to benefit urban life. The project is being supported by the Scottish AI Alliance and London Office for Technology and Innovation and Transport for West Midlands. It explores how communities experience AI.
