University of Windsor Canada delegation to strengthen academic ties with Indian Institutions
The university aims to improve cross-cultural exchanges across six major cities of India including Delhi, Chennai, Trichy, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai and also to boost academic ties.
Study in Canada: The University of Windsor delegation has strategically visited India. The team is led by Dr Robert Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President and other members include Dr. Chris Busch, Associate Vice President and Dr. Bill Van Heyst, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
The visit intends to promote collaborative programs, forge academic partnerships and improve cross-cultural exchanges between Canada and India.
Dr. Robert Gordon commented on the visit, “This visit is a vital opportunity for us to strengthen our academic ties with India. With over 320,000 Indian students studying in Canada in 2023, they represent more than 35% of all international students. By engaging with leading Indian universities and industry leaders, we aim to create a robust framework for reciprocal mobility that will benefit both our institutions and our students. Our commitment to fostering these relationships not only enhances educational opportunities but also acknowledges the significant contributions Indian students make to our economy, supporting over 170,000 jobs across various sectors.”
University of Windsor's delegation to meet teams of top Indian institutes
The university aims to enhance the educational opportunities for Indian students and build strong global partnerships. The team is planning to meet representatives of top institutes in Delhi, Chennai, Trichy, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai from September 23 to October 2, 2024, to offer cohesive study-abroad opportunities and seamless global exposure.
The team will interact with faculties at IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, DTU, Vel Tech Institute, JNTU, IIT Mumbai, and SASTRA T. Trichy. There will be an MoU signing ceremony at Vel Tech Chennai. The Canadian university is seeking opportunities for student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and collaborative academic programs.
The team will focus on academic excellence across various fields including business, technology, engineering, sustainable development and health sciences. It will also discuss the financial aid programs and internships, the creation of scholarship programs, and study abroad opportunities.
Dr. Bill Van Heyst commented, “Our goal is to showcase the commitment of the University of Windsor to innovation in education. By partnering with new Indian institutions and expanding existing ties, we can create collaborative solutions that provide Indian students with access to world-class learning opportunities in Canada as well as provide research and training opportunities that benefit both countries.”
