US Education Department recognizes 356 schools under 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools
This award recognizes the students' and educators' exceptional achievements at these schools. This also highlights that the school has excelled in academic performance.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona has announced the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools and recognized 356 schools under the same. This is a prestigious recognition in the US which gets awarded when a school achieves exceptional academic achievements and close achievement gaps among different groups of students.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.”
2024 cohort from diverse backgrounds
This year, these schools are showing diversity in American education and it has students from all backgrounds. There is a wide array of schools and they all are being led by leaders who uphold high standards and have a clear vision of instructional excellence. What they all have in common is that they offer robust professional development for teachers and showcase effective teaching methods at schools, said the government statement.
Assessment Method of National Blue Ribbon Schools
The Education Department of the US recognizes schools based on graduation rates, student subgroup performance, and assessment results. These schools are also assessed around these two categories - Exemplary High Performing Schools and Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools.
The applicant schools provide details of their school programs, culture, instructional practices, assessments, family, leadership, professional development and community involvement. A maximum of 420 schools can be nominated each year.
