Studyabroad.shiksha.com for in touch with one of the students – Raja, who shared his story of getting admission at Northeastern University, USA

Q. Why did you pick studying abroad over studying in India?

Raja: I picked going abroad as I wanted to do a master's which is related to a management degree. Top colleges In India like IIMs charge around 25-30L per annum which is similar to the fee structure of the USA, so, I thought doing a master's abroad would give me much more exposure as a management student.

Q. Which course and country did you choose and why?

Raja: I have kept multiple countries in option like Canada, Australia, and US and finally, I decided on the US as they have the number one education system. Masters of Science and Management from Northeastern University.

Q. How was your experience with the Shiksha counseling team? How did you discover us?

Raja: I feel happy that I choose Shiksha, My counselor Swati helped me a long way right from day one of my application process till the last date she guided me in every possible way. She guided me when I was in panic and was waiting for my college admission or there was no visa appointment. As I had scored 7 CGPA in my college, so, it wasn't sufficient for a top college to give admission but she told me that I'll get the right college. She was a great motivator for me and shared some of the great universities. She also shared contacts of Shiksha students who are doing their master's here, it will help in building networking.

Q. Which all universities did you get admission to? Did you receive any scholarships?

Raja: I got multiple admits! I got admission to Clark University, Saint Peter’s University, and a 50% scholarship. I choose Northeastern University because of their co-ops program which is beneficial for me, as an international student, my motto is to get a good job in a perfect market, and being a Northeastern I have access to multiple employers. Here, I have the opportunity to get employed with 3,000 employers during the co-op.

Q. What did you think was the most challenging part of applying to universities abroad?

Raja: The most challenging was getting a visa appointment during COVID as I was a Fall 2020 student and the visa process was very hectic. I was constantly thinking about when I'll get the appointment and whether I will land up on time. There were a lot of questions going on in my mind.

Raja: Never stop yourself and Shiksha would be the right place. I choose Shiksha because they are free of cost and they have professional team members like Swati. I have spoken to a couple of students from Shiksha and realized that Swati was the best. Good luck Swati and thank you so much.
