The university offers different types of financial aid, including scholarships, which Indian students can apply to for pursuing a course at the institution. As it promises an affordable education to all, irrespective of one’s economic conditions, 86% of those who graduated recently had no student debt. The need-based financial aid allows parents to pay no tuition fee if their earning is less than $150,000 per annum. No room and board or tuition charges are levied on those whose parents have earnings at or below $75,000. Even those whose family income is high are eligible for aid provided their individual circumstances are considered acceptable.

Types of Financial Aid at Stanford University

University Scholarship: This is the main funding source at Stanford University which is many times catered by corporations as well as individuals. These funds are allocated on the basis of the student’s financial requirements and eligibility for the same. In order to determine the latter, the expected amount which you and your parents need to pay toward the fee and the rest of the federal/state grant funds is deducted from the full student budget. One does not need to submit a separate application for any of the scholarship funds.

Outside Scholarships: These types of scholarships will assist you in meeting your student responsibility expectations dollar-for-dollar. In a scenario where a student obtains an outside scholarship along with a Stanford scholarship which exceeds his/her student responsibility, his/her eligibility for the need-based scholarship will shrink.

Those who wish to apply for this need to fill out the FAFSA along with the state’s Cal Grant GPA Verification form. Recipients of these funds will get the amount in their university accounts when each new quarter commences. Those obtaining Cal Grant A will have the entire amount credited toward their cost of studying or tuition fees. Cal Grant B recipients will obtain the same toward their tuition fee and the subsistence part will be credited toward any of the leftover bill charges. They are also permitted to ask for direct disbursement of the same.

Federal Grants: Those enrolled for undergraduate courses at Stanford can be regarded for the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant and Federal Pell Grant on the basis of financial requirements, the details for which will be mentioned on the FAFSA. Students do not need to submit a different application for federal grant funds as they will be considered on the basis of their financial aid application.
