Study in Singapore: Student Visa

An Indian student who aspires to study in Singapore will need to apply for a student visa. However, if you have a Dependent Pass or Immigration Exemption Order, you may be able to bypass this stage.

Here are five easy tips to get your Singapore student visa in time:

  • Once you are accepted by an educational institute at Singapore, it will issue you an IPA letter, which is valid for two weeks. This letter is one of the key documents that you will require to get a Student's Pass of Singapore student visa. Other documents that you will require include:
    • Form 16 (Application Form for Student Visa),
    • Form V36 (collects additional information about student visa applicant),
    • Form V39S (Sponsorship Letter),
    • Two passport sized photographs,
    • Birth certificate, other certificates and mark sheets of the applicant in English,
    • TOEFL or IELTS score certificate,
    • Banker's guarantee of SGD 5000 or Rs 2,00,000 from cashier's order or established bank in Singapore.
  • Students should apply for the student visa to Singapore at least two months before the commencement of the academic programme at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). This can be done online using the Student's Pass Online Application & Registration (SOLAR) system. Normally, it just takes 10 to 15 working days to get your student visa application processed but since July and August are the busiest months for visa applications, processing may take longer during these two months.
