There are two popular intakes in Singapore; the August and February intakes. The admission process for February 2025 will start after August 2024, at least 6 months before. In this six-month duration, you can plan for your activities to get admission.

Study in Singapore February Intake

Catering to a large global student population, Singapore not only offers a great academic experience but also a culturally diverse and rich environment. It helps them settle quite well into the new place and atmosphere. The public universities in Singapore generally have two intakes i.e. August and February. On the other hand, there are multiple intakes in private universities, i;e January, February, July, August, September, and October. 

This article is about Singapore February intake 2025. It will be helpful for those Indian students who are planning to study in Singapore but missed applying in the August intake. We will discuss its admission timeline, things to keep in mind and more.

Singapore February Intake 2025 Things to Do
September- October 2024 Shortlisted 8-12 universities to which you wish to apply. You must now be acquainted with the university websites and should have noted application requirements, deadlines etc before Singapore intake officially begins.
October-November 2024
November - December 2024
  • Register for the GMAT/GRE.
  • Register for TOEFL/IELTS at least a month before the test date.
  • Take the required tests around December. Plan for buffer time in case you need to retake the test.

Things to Keep in Mind During Application

  • Shortlist the colleges and prepare for your application. Think hard about what makes you unique as an applicant and sketch out your strengths and self-assessment.
  • Contact your professors and direct managers for the required 2-3 reference letters. At least a month before your application deadline.
  • Begin drafting your SOP and essays. Give a month’s time to structure these documents properly. 
  • Apply before the deadline! One can find out about the Singapore university application dates on the respective university websites.
  • Don’t delay replying to college e-mails.
  • Appear for personal/video interviews.

Steps After Getting Selected

  • Once you get acceptance letters, make your decision as soon as possible.
  • Depending on the deadline, notify the universities of your decision.
  • You will need to pay a non-refundable deposit to confirm your admission.
  • Search for and begin applying for external scholarships (if applicable).
  • Apply for a student loan, after you get your acceptance letter.
  • Gather paperwork for your student visa of Singapore. Check visa requirements.
  • Apply for a student visa in time. Keep some buffer time for Singapore visa processing time.
  • Book airline tickets. You can explore student discount flights for affordable tickets
  • Arrange for an international debit/credit card.

Q. How many intakes are there in Singapore?

A. There are two intakes popular in Singapore. 

  • Fall intake (August/September): This is the largest and most popular intake, with most programs and courses offered.
  • Spring intake (January/February): This is a smaller intake with fewer programs and courses available.

 

Q. Can I apply for studying in Singapore if I don't hold a student visa?

A. No, foreign nationals intending to pursue higher education in any of the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) in Singapore need to hold a student visa or a student pass for the same. You need this pass if the duration of your programme exceeds 30 days. The application process for the same is carried out through SOLAR system (Student's Pass Online Application and Registration), the official registration system of Singapore. Once you've obtained an offer letter or letter of acceptance from an IHL, you can start applying for the student visa. The good news is that the applications for a Singapore student pass are processed in a short time.  

Q. How expensive is pursuing higher education in Singapore?

A. The cost of studying In Singapore, depends on the type of university, courses, and the city that you choose. Generally, you would have to pay a higher tuition fee if you're applying to a top university as compared to a less renowned institution. Also, polytechnics offering certificate diplomas also charge lesser fees. For an undergraduate programme, the tuition expenses are upto INR 12.05 lacs per annum whereas, for a postgraduate programme, it may cost around INR 17 lacs per annum.

Q. Can I apply for higher education in Singapore if I do not possess an IELTS score?

A. Yes, some universities in Singapore offer admission without IELTS Score. However, Singapore Medical Council and some reputed universities ask score of English proficiency exams. Students can appear for IELTS alternative exams like PTE, TOEFL, etc.

Q. What is the set eligibility for an Indian student to apply for an education loan in Singapore?

A. Those who wish to apply for an education loan to study in an IHL in Singapore should be Indian citizens first and should be 18 years or older if they want a loan. Those aged below 18 will have to apply for the same co-jointly with their parents.

They should have also obtained admission to a professional programme in a recognised university and should be holding documents to prove this. Please note that it is always a good idea to verify if the university is recognised by the concerned authorities as banks grant loans only for such recognised institutions. 

Q. Can I work while studying in Singapore as an international student?

A. Overseas students in Singapore can take up part-time work for up to 16 hours per week. Those intending to work during holidays do not need work permits as they are permitted to work full-time without visa restrictions. Once a degree course ends, students can submit an application for a 1-year visit pass to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore. With this pass, they will be allowed to search for jobs in Singapore.

Q. In how many days will my Singapore Student Visa application get processed?

A. Once you have sent an application to obtain your Singapore student visa, it may take upto ten days to get processed. But keep in mind that those applying between July-August will face a higher processing time as universities in Singapore may be busy with resuming their programmes. It is hence recommended to start the application process as soon as possible. Also, the majority of the institutions in Singapore have a dedicated online application page on their respective websites. Prospective students can visit the same and apply easily.

Q. I am from India and wish to apply to a university in Singapore. I have not yet completed Class 12. Can I still apply?

A. The basic norms for admission to a university in Singapore require you to possess an aggregate of 90-95% in both Class 10 and 12. In case you have not completed your secondary education at the time of applying for UG admission, you should submit a predictive score of Class 12. Also, some institutes such as SIM, NUS, and Yale-NUS will require the applicants to submit advanced placement test scores.

Q:   Is Singapore Management University hard to get into?

A:

According to various sources, Singapore Management University has an acceptance rate of around 45% which makes it moderately selective for international student admissions. Some of the general admission requirements at the university are given as follows:

  • Academic Transcripts 
  • International Qualifications that are equivalent 
  • Standardized Test Scores 
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency 

After the student receives an offer letter, they are required to give the admission interview to be enrolled. 

Q:   How can I apply for NUS Singapore from India?

A:

Applications to all the courses offered by NUS are done via online application portals of the university. Check out the steps below to see how to fill undergraduate and postgraduate applications on dedicated portals:

Undergraduate Applicants:

International applicants need to follow these steps to apply to an undergraduate programme at NUS:

Step 1: Visit myaces.nus.edu.sg/uasonline2/catD/catDapplform.do and sign up to apply.

Step 2: Enter personal details and contact information.

Step 3: Enter details of academic qualifications.

Step 4: Enter information on university/tertiary education.

Step 5: Enter the information on all outstanding achievements.

Step 6: Insert the programme details and paste the application material in the boxes provided.

Step 7: In this step, input the following:

  • Next-of-kin information
  • Personal identification number
  • Application fee
  • Financial aid
  • Other information
  • Tuition grant

Step 8: Read the declaration carefully.

Step 9: Press the ‘Continue’ button to complete the application.

Graduate Applicants

International applicants need to follow these steps to apply to a graduate programme at NUS:

Step 1: Sign up on the university’s application portal at inetapps.nus.edu.sg/gda2/Applicant.aspx/Account/SignUp.

Step 2: Click on ‘Create New Application’ and choose the following:

  • Programme type
  • Faculty
  • Programme
  • Department
  • Specialisation (area of study)
  • Source of finance
  • Specify in case of ‘other source of finance’
  • Academic load

Step 3: Read the instructions from the faculty/department/school carefully.

Step 4: Fill up the information as stepping through the application process.

Step 5: The system will perform an application completeness check for the selected programme.

Step 6: Once the above steps are completed, fill up the declaration section.

Step 7: Click on the 'Submit' button in the declaration page to complete the submission.

Step 8: To make an online payment for the application/acceptance fee and view details of your application (e.g. application status and admission status), click ‘View Application/Make Payment/Submit Reply on Offer of Admission’ at the menu on the left.

Step 9: To make changes to basic programme information for an application, click ‘Edit’.

Step 10: To apply to multiple programmes within the same application cycle and to change the order of preference, please click on the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ links as required.

 

Q:   Is NTU Singapore expensive?

A:

The NTU tuition fees is S$36,336.45 for international students. Apart from this, students also need to pay University-level miscellaneous fees The tuition fee for undergraduate courses for Nanyang Technological University is similar to NUS. First of all, students need to pay a non-refundable application fee of S$21.40. After accepting the offer, international students need to pay S$5,000 as non-refundable fee. This deposit fee can be used to offset the first tuition fee payment.

Q:   What is the population of MBA students and faculty at INSEAD Singapore?

A:

There are around 20,000+ students and 5,500+ faculty at INSEAD Singapore. 
However, it is difficult to be sure about the same because of new admissions taking place.
The INSEAD website states that there are over 145 full-time faculty from more than 30 countries. 
The exact numbers may vary depending on the year and the source.

Q:   Does INSEAD - Singapore accept Indian students?

A:

Certainly yes, INSEAD - Singapore accepts admission applications from all across the globe including India as well. Indian students applying at INSEAD - Singapore are required to meet the eligibility criteria for the respective choice of course along with a qualifying score in the English language proficiency test like IELTS. 

Q:   How can an Indian student get admission to INSEAD - Singapore?

A:

As an Indian student, complete the following steps to be admitted to INSEAD in Singapore:

  • Academic Qualifications: Ascertain that you have a solid academic background and a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
  • Work Experience: INSEAD favors individuals with relevant professional backgrounds. 
  • GMAT/GRE: Get ready for and take the GMAT or GRE because admissions officers frequently want these scores.
