We require letters of recommendation from two secondary school teachers:

• One from STEM: math (calculus or beyond preferred), physics, chemistry, or biology
• One from Humanities/Social Sciences: English, history, government, or economics
• If student have not taken a humanities/social science course in your final two years of secondary school, e.g., A-level students, international applicants can substitute the required teacher evaluation from a humanities/social science with another letter from a teacher in a different core subject. University preferences are teacher evaluations from your final two years of secondary school.

• At Caltech, university investigate some of the most challenging, fundamental problems in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Identify and describe two STEM-related experiences from their high school years, either in or out of the classroom, and tell applicant's how and why they activated their curiosity. What about them made applicant's want to learn more and explore further? (Min: 100/Max: 200 words for each experience)
