Kennesaw State University History
In 1963, the Kennesaw State University started its journey as the Kennesaw Junior College in Cobb County, GA. On Oct 9, 1963, the university was chartered by the Board of Regents. In the Fall semester of 1966, the university officially welcomed 1,000 students. Kennesaw Junior College turned into a four-year institution by the vote of the Board of Regents in 1976, and in the following year, it was renamed as the Kennesaw College.
Later in 2015, Kennesaw State University became the third largest school in the University System of Georgia, due to its merger with Southern Polytechnic State University.
