Lehman College Highlights
In 1930, Hunter College was built in the Bronx. The campus was used for training women during World War II. Initially, only women would attend the Bronx campus. In September of 1967, the Bronx campus turned into an independent college. It came to be known as Lehman after philanthropist and US senator Herbert H. Lehman. The founding president was Leonard Lief. Lehman College is presently situated at 250 Bedford Park. It is a coed liberal arts college.
