- Overall BTech Cutoff Range: In Round 5 of JEE Advanced 2026, the closing ranks for General AI category candidates ranged from 67 to 5,473 across all BTech branches.
- Most Competitive Branch: BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) recorded the toughest cutoff, closing at rank 67 in Round 5 for General category candidates. BTech in Environmental Science and Engineering was the least competitive specialization, with the highest closing rank of 5,473.
IIT Bombay Courses & Fees 2026

Hostel & Mess Fees
- For UG students, IIT Bombay charges INR 19,950 as Hostel fee and INR 22,500 as mess fees.

Payment Deadline: Candidates must pay their total semester fee within 7 working days after course registration.
IIT Bombay Fee Refund Policy:
- If candidates withdraw their admission before the fee payment deadline then their semester fee will be refunded after the deduction of seat acceptence fee and processing fee (INR 5000).
- If candidates cancel their admisson after the last date of fee payment, only Security Deposits like Institute, Library, and Hostel Caution Money refund. The semester fee will not be refunded.

IIT Bombay Admission & Application Process 2026
IIT Bombay grants admission to its programmes based on national-level entrance test ranks followed by centralised counselling or direct departmental evaluations. Candidates must meet the eligibility rules specific to their chosen course.
Selection Criteria
- BTech / BS / Dual Degree: Selection is based on rank in JEE Advanced, followed by JoSAA / CSAB centralised counselling.
- BDes: Admission is given via ranks in the UCEED exam.
- MTech: Selection depends on GATE marks via the COAP portal. Some departments may also conduct a written test or personal interview.
- MBA: Selection is based on valid CAT marks, followed by a personal interview round held by SJMSOM, IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay admission to BDes course includes various steps. Starting with registration to entrance exam, counselling and seat allotment. Before jumping to application, candidates must also check their eligibility. Any candidate who have completed Class 12 can apply for BDes course.
Step 1: Registration
Candidates need to apply online for BDes course with an application fee of INR 3,800 for open and INR 1,900 for reserved category. The common application form will be available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal.
Step 2: Selection
The selection to BDes course is based on UCEED rank. A merit list is prepared based on UCEED rank of the candidates.
Step 3: Counselling
Once shortlisted, candidates need to register for counselling. The seat are alloted based on the UCEED rank of the candidates. Aspirants must pay the fee to confirm their seat in the institute.

IIT Bombay GATE cutoff 2026 was released till round 1 for admission to the M.Tech course for various All India categories.

Yes, JEE Main is required for admission to IIT Bombay's BTech programmes. It is an eligibility requirement for JEE Advanced. Students cannot get admission to IIT Bombay using only the JEE Main score. The total tuition fee for IIT Bombay MDes is INR 2.7 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Students belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category or a child of institution staff are exempted from paying the tuition fee. There is a concessional and a non-concessional fee for candidates belonging to General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. The concessional is offered on tuition fee. Candidates apart from the tuition fee are required to pay examination fee, medical fee, etc. Students not staying in hostel are exempted from the payment of hostel fee.

A minimum of Class 12 is required to apply for BDes course at IIT Bombay. Below is the detailed eligibility:
- Aspirants should have obtained a rank in UCEED. A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years. UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.
- Candidates need to pass all five subjects in Class 12 or equivalent. Those who have appeared for the first time in the qualifying exam in 2022 or earlier are not eligible.
The total tuition fee is inlcusive of admssion fee, examination fee, caution deposit, and charges for many other facilities provided by the institute during the programme. The total tuition fee for the PhD programme at SJMSOM is INR 1.5 lakh. Note that the mentioned fee is as per unofficial sources, hence, is subject to revision.
GATE is one of the entrance exams for PhD admission. However, aspirants can also get admission in PhD based on CSIR NET/ CEED/ UGC NET or written test conducted by the institute. The shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview round for final selection. Along with GATE score, candidates also need to fulfil the eligibiltiy requirements. Aspirants must complete Bachelor or Masters or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology or master's or equivalent degree in Science or Arts/ Commerce with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category) for PhD admission.
