Monash University History
Monash University was founded in 1858 by the Engineer and the public administrator Sir John Monash as an Act of Parliament. The first foundation studies at the Clayton campus of Monash University was started in 1961 and it became the first university that was established in Victoria in more than 100 years.
A year after 1990, the Victorian College of Pharmacy was entering a partnership with Monash University that helped in bringing Parkville as a campus of the university. Between 2001 and 2004, Monash University had opened a campus in South Africa as well and a campus in Italy during 2001.
