Applicants will need to meet the following requirements:
- The completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a non-education discipline at an approved tertiary education institution is required
- Primary specialization:
- Subject content studies in the applicant's initial degree should contain a minimum of one year of study relevant to at least one of the key learning areas of the Primary school curriculum
- The Key Learning areas are listed below
- The Key Learning Areas are: English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Creative and Practical Arts, Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education, and Languages other than English
- Secondary specialization
- The first teaching specialization requires at least three years of degree-level study leading to a completed bachelor degree, including, at least, two units at third year (advanced) level or above AND
- The second teaching specialization requires at least two years of degree-level study, including, at least, two units at second year (Intermediate) level or above
- Curriculum areas: These entry requirements relate to the following secondary curriculum areas all of which can be studied as either a first or second teaching specialization: English; Mathematics; Science; SOSE; LOTE; Arts (Visual Art; Drama; Music; Media Arts)
- All applicants are required to provide a non-academic personal statement that is used to assist in the selection of students into all Initial Teacher Education (ITE) courses at the University of Tasmania
