- The holder of a baccalaureate in another science discipline and the foreign candidate whose training only partially meets the admission requirements will be required to attend preparatory schooling
- This includes compulsory courses for the baccalaureate in electrical engineering or computer engineering, to which some optional courses can be added. Preparatory schooling is carried out in one full-time study session (12 to 15 credits)
- These undergraduate courses must be passed with a grade equal to or higher than B+ (3.33 out of 4.33)

If the language of instruction of applicants' primary and secondary studies is not French, they must, to be eligible, demonstrate at the time of submitting their application for admission a minimum level of knowledge of the French language. by success:
- of the French Test (TCF all public), French as a foreign or second language with:
- a result equal to or higher than 600/699 in the compulsory tests (TCF-TP)
- AND a result equal to or higher than 14/20 on the written expression test (TCF-TP/EEE)
- OR the course FLS-2093 Writing argumentative texts (or a Laval University course deemed equivalent) with a grade equal to or greater than C
- of the French Test (TCF all public), French as a foreign or second language with:
- Applicants do not have to provide proof of your level of French if they have obtained:
- the diploma of college studies in French in Quebec (DEC) AND passed the uniform French test
- OR a university degree awarded by a French-speaking establishment
- The student must, during their first registration session, find a professor who will agree to act as test director. Before the end of this period, the student notifies the program director of his choice of test director
