Students must hold, or reasonably expect to hold by September, a bachelor's degree for entry into the M.A. program or a master’s degree in Economics

Applicants must hold 4-year Bachelor's or 3-year Bachelor’s from institutions with a NAAC rating of "A" or 2-year Master’s awarded beyond a 3-year Bachelor’s from institutions with a NAAC rating below “A”

The minimum acceptable CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is 3.0 out of a possible 4.0, which is equivalent to “B” on a letter scale, or at least a 3.2/4.0 over the last two years of study

Prerequisites:

two terms of calculus (differential and integral calculus, including constrained optimization methods, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, constrained optimization using the method of Lagrangian multipliers and Riemann integration)

one term of matrix algebra (rank, inverse, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and quadratic forms)

statistics: a full-year course in statistics from an economics or mathematics department

If the applicant's degree is not in Economics

An Honours B.A. in Economics is the normal requirement, although students holding an ordinary B.A., whether in economics or another discipline, may also be eligible for admission

Students judged by the admissions committee to have deficiencies in their preparation in economics may be admitted to a Qualify Year in which they undertake advanced economics honors-level undergraduate work

The minimum preparation is a full year of intermediate macroeconomics, microeconomics, and statistics, two semesters of introductory calculus, and one semester of linear algebra

Graduate applicants who do not have an adequate background in either economics or mathematics may be admitted to the Qualifying Year (QY). QY students take three full-year (September-April) Honours economics undergraduate-level courses:

Intro to Econ Theory: Honours; and

Economic Statistics: Honours; and

Macroeconomics: Honours; and

either a fourth year-long course or two semester-long courses for a total of 24 credits

Students considered by the admissions committee to have an inadequate mathematics background must take one or two semester-long mathematics courses, most commonly Linear Algebra and multivariable calculus Calculus 3

To enter the MA from the Qualifying year program, a student must earn a GPA of at least a 3.2 in the program approved by the QY academic advisor, and a minimum grade of B in all courses

It is for your dream come true university.

Tips: When I came to McGill University, things were a bit different. Montreal's mix of cultures was interesting. At first, it was a bit strange, but I liked learning about new traditions, foods and celebrations. Being part of McGill's diverse community has made my time here more colourful and exciting.

Likes (Public transportation): Getting around McGill University is pretty convenient with good public transportation. The system connects well with the rest of the city, making it easy to move around and affordable. The weather is generally nice but if you plan to work in the long run, having your own vehicle like a car, might come in handy.

Dislikes (Student Life): Life as a student at McGill University is a mix of studies and some chill time. The campus in Montreal is cool with open space to relax during break. I am not much into events because I am busy and there are not many specific student clubs. It's a laid-back vibe. But I have found my own routine.

Good student life with the McGill's MBA.

Tips: It is a pretty intensive course and it requires long hours. French language is not necessary. But it’s fun to learn from professors and guest speakers. The fall semester is the hardest with maximum number of subjects in one semester and it is pretty fast paced as well.

Likes (Student Life): Safe environment for students. Clean and quiet places around the campus are there to sit and study. Study rooms for group study in library as well as in the department building are there. Special care is given for the physical and mental well being of students. A lot of fun events are organized on almost every weekend.

Dislikes (Indian Food): Less options for Indian cuisine are available, but a great place for people who are interested in trying different cuisines. Plenty of affordable eateries near the campus are available as well, although you can find good Indian restaurants outside downtown and they are pretty cheap as well.
