Students on this programme benefit from smaller class sizes and one to one engagement with lecturers - This 4-year Honours Degree programme is designed to enable students to develop the professional knowledge, skills and understanding needed to fulfill the role of a midwife. A role which involves providing individualised care to women and their family. Learning throughout this courses takes place in the classroom, specialised skills laboratory and in our affiliated partner hospitals
- The philosophy of midwifery is based on a view of childbirth as part of the life cycle and therefore viewed as a normal, healthy and profound experience in women’s lives. Midwives recognise, respect and safeguard normal processes during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period whilst also acknowledging that some women may experience more complex pregnancies and require specialised care needs

- Students who wish to care for women and families in a holistic manner before, during and after pregnancy should consider applying for this programme.
Students who have an interest in health and wellbeing, particularly women’s health and wellbeing, should consider applying for this programme.
Students who have an interest in specialised neonatal care and care of healthy newborn infants should consider applying for this programme.
This programme is also very suited to the mature student entry pathway.

This college is about 90 acres and every department has access to many facilities.
Tips: Accommodation, part-time availability and travelling. Unlike universities and colleges in Dublin, DKIT never leaves students alone. They support students in finding accommodation which is the biggest problem in Ireland currently. It also has some college accommodations like a green hall and private bonding with Mourne view hall. The time when you paid initial deposit, do not ignore the suggestions from DKITs international help desk messages. They will suggest students regarding initial payments or quarterly payments for accommodation and utility bills. Do not fear in paying those deposits. Once you reach Dundalk, and if you do not find accommodation, it is a big problem and students can lose even more money by paying hostel fees. Eventually, college opens an AIB student account and allocated required letters for PPSN and GNIB. Then you can find part-time jobs in college or nearby.
Likes (Public transportation): From Dublin to Dundalk, public transport facility is more frequently available than public transport to any other counties from Dublin. For, example from the city centre to DKIT Matthews coach is available every 1 hour throughout the day starting from morning 7:30 to evening 9:30 at an affordable price.
Dislikes (Internships): Regarding internships, DKIT will not provide any internships after this course. Everything depends on the type of course the student has chosen. Some courses will provide and some won't. If they provided internship means it is worth paying more academic fees. For my course, there is no internship, and one will get enough lab exposure which is required for post-study jobs
