Study in USA: The Council on International Educational Exchange is all set to fund $1 million each to four US universities to create new study abroad programs. These four universities include - Northeastern University, UC San Diego, Arizona State University, and Borough of Manhattan Community College.

As per The Pie News report, these universities will receive the funding over four years. These universities have pledged to match the $1 million grant in funding for students to study abroad in Australia, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe.

“We look forward to working with these four globally-minded and student-centred organisations over the next four years to help them lead change in study abroad at their institutions and serve as role models for the field of higher education,” said James P. Pellow, president and CEO of CIEE.

Arizona State University to enhance its 10-year investment in early-start student

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the university will enhance its 10-year investment in early-start student success programming to launch the Early Start Global Accelerator Program for high-risk, first-year students.

Nancy Gonzales, ASU executive vice president and university provost said “Study abroad is one of the most transformational college experiences that supports student retention and persistence to graduation. For these reasons, ASU has made it our priority to expand access to study-abroad opportunities, as it has historically been accessible only to students from higher-income families. This grant from CIEE, which we are proud to match, will help ASU advance our charter commitment to making impactful university experiences accessible to all.”

ASU Early Start Global Accelerator Program will pilot in summer 2025 which includes 60 students attending an eight-day program in Monteverde, Costa Rica. After the pilot year, the program will be expanded to 150 students each year and funding from the university and CIEE will begin. The program will have three goals - serve as an institutional model of student success for Early Start initiatives in all ASU colleges, improve first-year student retention, and engage first-year students with an intense experience on environmental sustainability and culture in the world-renowned cloud forest of Costa Rica.
