Classes Internationales: Indian students pathway to best French higher education establishments
The program is the outcome of an agreement between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. It was created to welcome India's brightest high-school graduates to France whether or not they speak French.
“Classes Internationales” programme is all set to commence in September 2024. The idea is to invite the brightest Indian high school graduates to learn French for a year in France before they start pursuing a course of their choice. It is a great opportunity for Indian aspirants who seek to study in France as they get to obtain complete training in the French language and also have the chance to get a scholarship at the end of the program.
The program was announced by the French President Emmanuel Macron and a detailed joint statement was signed by the French President and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26 January 2024. The deadline for individuals at the complete beginner level (A0) was 7 April 2024, while those at the A2 proficiency level have until 30 June, 2024, to apply.

There is no cap for Classes Internationales
As per the latest information shared by the French Embassy, to apply for Classes Internationales, there is no limited intake of students but it is a selective process. Students can apply for the Fall Intake (September) until the end of June and for taking admission in 2025, the students can again apply for next year's Fall admission.
Classes Internationales is mainly for those who completed their Class 12 qualification and going to apply for a Bachelor's degree. As per the information shared, though Sciences Po is not part of it but after the student completes their graduation in the chosen field, it is easier to get admitted to one of the Master's degrees offered by Sciences Po or any other one.

Through this initiative, Indian students get access to a wide range of disciplines and programs offered by the top French higher education institutions including specialised schools and grandes ecoles. The key features comprise diversity, inclusiveness and a focus on excellence. The students will be selected based on academic merit alone and the proficiency in French language is no criterion for selection. The fees are also nominal, especially at public universities.
It addresses a common problem among study abroad students who take time to adapt to a new environment in a foreign university. This route ensures a smooth transition to university. It is an initiative by the French government through the French public agency Campus France and the French Embassy in India and hence it ensures the welfare of the student.
