Columbia University: The access to the Morningside campus has been limited with immediate effect. The university has announced that access has been limited to employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff) and students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien). Other than this, there is no access given to anyone.

All campus entry points are closed except through 116th Street and Amsterdam gate. Security personnel will remain in place at the Wien Gate for individuals requiring disability access to Wien Hall and East Campus.

"Access to campus has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life. We will continue to update with more information should there be additional changes to campus access today," reads the official statement.

Jewish students reportedly attacked on Columbia University Campus

The messages circulating on the X platform say that Jewish students are attacked on the campus. Following are some of the related messages:

"Jewish student SURROUNDED and ATTACKED by out of control mob after he attempted to enter the Columbia University campus. Columbia descended into chaos last night as anarchist mobs stormed the building, smashing windows with hammers," says one of the messages.

"COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY: Students have taken over Hamilton Hall. This escalation is in line with uprisings in 1968, 1985 and 1996, which Columbia repressed then and celebrates today. All power to students putting their bodies and livelihoods on the line to stand against genocide." said another message on X.

"Overnight, the pro-terror mob took over Hamilton Hall at @Columbia. University posting on social media that they have “taken matters into their own hands. The mob used metal gates to barricade the doors, blocked entrances with wooden tables and chairs, and zip-tyed doors shut. They unfurled a banner reading “Hind’s Hall”—renaming Hamilton after Hind Rajab, a Palestinian boy. The administration at Columbia University has advised people to avoid the campus today," said another message on the X platform.
