Yet another Indian student has died in the USA. Dasari Gopikrishna, a 32-year-old Indian student was killed while working at a supermarket in the USA.

Study in US: As per reports, a 32-year-old Indian student was killed in a firing at a grocery store in Arkansas in the United States. He has been identified as Dasari Gopikrishna from Andhra Pradesh.

While commenting on his demise, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his grief and said on X platform, "Deeply saddened to learn that a young Dasari Gopikrishna from Bapatla has succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Texas, USA. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them that the GoAP will extend every possible support to help bring him home. We firmly stand by the family and pray for them to find strength through this difficult time."

While US media confirmed the death of only 4 people in the incident, the news emerged in Andhra Pradesh confirming the death of Dasari Gopikrishna who arrived in the US just eight months ago. He was working at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas. On June 21, a shooter opened fire at the store. The incident left four people dead and nine injured.

There is CCTV footage circulating on social media showing that the gunman entered the store and opened fire at Gopikrishna while he was standing at the billing counter. He suffered severe injury and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead the next day. He is survived by a son and a wife. The family is living in Yajali, Karlapalem mandal, Bapatla district and is devastated by his demise.

Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former chief minister of the state also expressed shock over his death and requested the Naidu government and Ministry of External Affairs to support the deceased's kin unconditionally.








More details of the firing incident

The police said in a statement that nearly 14 people were hit by gunfire, including 11 civilians, two law enforcement officers and the suspect, reported AP.  

Other people who died in the incident include - Shirley Taylor, 62, Roy Sturgis, 50, and Ellen Shrum, 81, Callie Weems, 23. As per the police, the suspect was identified as 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey from New Edinburg, and he will be charged with counts of capital murder.
