According to a survey conducted this year, prospective international students are not going to be affected by the election results. Donald Trump's Second Presidency Looks Favorable For Indian Students

Study in US: Donald Trump is all set to be sworn in as the 47th president in January 2025. It is to be seen how the second presidency will affect the international students coming to the US including the Indian students. However, a survey conducted this year says that international students will be undeterred by the outcome of the election, and for them, the popularity of the US is going to remain the same as it was before the election.

While reacting to the election result, Dr Fanta Aw, executive director and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, said, "For more than 75 years, NAFSA has advocated for policies that expand the reach and impact of international education. We remain committed to educating the incoming administration and Congress on the regulatory changes and policies that will strengthen the field and extend opportunities for global learning ….With increasing competition for the world’s best and brightest students, and only a small fraction of U.S. college students studying abroad, US global competitiveness is at stake. Working with Congress and the Trump administration, we will advocate for policies that strengthen the U.S. role in research, workforce development, knowledge diplomacy, and national security. International education is a vital asset to the United States," as reported by ICEF Monitor.

Miriam Feldblum, executive director of the Presidents’ Alliance, said,In a post-election environment of uncertainty and anxiety for many on our campuses, our commitment to students, staff, and faculty from around the world remains steadfast, as does our belief in their essential role in our nation’s economic vitality and competitiveness.”

India To Be Biggest Source Of International Students In US By 2034

A study by HolonIQ predicted that the number of international students in the US will increase in the near future. From 1.3 million currently, it is going to be 2.8 million by 2034. Trump Intends To Provide Green Cards To Indian Students

He had talked about the green cards during the election campaign and again he reiterated his intentions to hand green cards to the international students who are graduating from US colleges. In a recent interview with WaPo, he said,One of the biggest complaints I had from people heading up companies… they’re not allowed to stay in the country. And they want to be able to recruit them and they can’t do it. There are many cases where these people go back to India… We could’ve had [them]," as reported by AF Post.
