Duolingo English Test Launches DETermined Scholarship For Women Applying To STEM Courses Abroad
Study Abroad: DETermined Scholarship is for Indian women looking to take admission in STEM related courses abroad. The scholarship is worth USD 30,000 and it is for students who are looking for post-graduate courses for the Spring '26 semester.
The Duolingo English Test (DET) has announced the launch of DETermined scholarship to empower Indian women in STEM.
Severin Hacker, CTO and Co-Founder of Duolingo announced this in a press conference held in New Delhi. Duolingo English Test (DET) launched this in collaboration with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) GoI.
The applications will be open in June 2025 on the Manthan portal. The applicants should include DET score of 120 while filling out the applications. They should include a proposal about their vision in STEM fields and should have a strong academic background.
The finalists will get mentorship from STEM experts for their academic and professional journeys. The selection process includes three steps – application phase, a STEM impact proposal challenge and a final interview.
“By taking the DET, students can gain admission to over 5,500 programs worldwide, making it a valuable tool in pursuing academic dreams particularly for those applying for the DETermined Scholarship,” says the official statement.

DETermined Scholarships For Women In STEM: More Details
The scholarship is announced to support the talented and ambitious Indian women in STEM. It will offer USD 30,000 as one-time grant towards the tuition fees for postgraduate courses in STEM in universities in US which accept DET for admission for the AY 2026-27. The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India is also a knowledge partner for this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria For DETermined Scholarship
The following are the eligibility criteria:
- It is open to women only from India
- She should have a bachelor’s degree in STEM field or an equivalent degree.
- She should have leadership qualities and an intention to contribute to India through her qualifications.
