Eckerd College Ranks No. 1 Among Baccalaureate Institutions For Short-Term Study Abroad
Study in US: Eckerd College has been at the top position for sending students for short-term study abroad programs and at number three for the highest number of international students among baccalaureate institutes.
The US government's Institute of International Education has just released its Open Doors 2024 report for participation in the study abroad programs in the year 2022-2023. In this report, Eckerd College has been ranked number one among the baccalaureate institutions for student participation in short-term study abroad programs.
For a total number of study abroad students, Eckerd was placed at number three in the US among baccalaureate institutions and at sixth place for undergraduate participation in overall study abroad.
“Eckerd College’s recognition as a top baccalaureate institution in the number of students studying abroad, especially in short-term programs, reflects our unwavering commitment to offering students dynamic, immersive experiences that enhance both students’ education and personal growth,” says Eckerd’s Director of Global Education Laura Semenow.
“We believe that short-term study abroad programs are a powerful way for students to engage with the world, broaden their perspectives, and return with a deeper understanding of the global community," added Semenow.
Eckerd College Offers Public Health Minor Course
The program - Public Health Minor was created at Eckerd for students who are interested in health-related courses, Master of Public Health programs, healthcare careers and faculty interest to prepare students for career paths, says Associate Professor of Sociology Lisa Miller, Ph.D.
US Bureau of Labor Statistics report says, “Overall employment in healthcare is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033 with about 1.9 million projected openings per year."
“You don’t have to be an aspiring physician or nurse to want to work with population-level health issues. There’s room for students with broad interests and that medicine and health is a fast-growing labor market," says Miller.
“My guess is that you are hoping those tuition dollars pay off. So this is a professional career path that you can pursue with the hopes of not only lifelong joy but also, hopefully, some economic prosperity and job stability," adds Miller.
