French Institute in India starts Largest On-Site Training for French Language Teachers at Amity University
At the Largest On-Site Training for French Language Teachers in India, a total of 86 educators from India, Central Asia, and South Asia will get the training in a week-long program.
The French Institute in India (IFI) joined forces with the Amity School of Foreign Languages to begin its annual French language Teacher Training program in partnership with Amity University, Noida.
In this intensive training program, six expert trainers from France and India will share their knowledge with participants. The objective is to provide pedagogical training tailored to the teaching contexts of French in schools, universities, and Alliances Françaises, taking into account the identified needs in these institutions.
For French language instructors, this is a great opportunity to refresh their expertise in contemporary teaching methods and improve their teaching techniques. This is the ninth edition of the program that IFI has been running since 2015. Each participant will attend 30 hours of training (2 x 15-hour modules) during the week, focused on particular facets of teaching methodology.
The Université Pédagogique Régionale - Inde 2024 program will educate over 86 French language teachers from across India and neighbouring countries of Central Asia and South Asia. The event is being held from May 27 and it will conclude on May 31, 2024.
Training for French Language Teachers in India Details
The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Counsellor for Education, Science & Culture, Embassy of France, Mr. Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, and Vice-Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla.
“The International Training Program is the largest on-site training event for French language teachers in India. In the context of remarkable Franco-Indian cooperation, where France wishes to welcome 30,000 Indian students by 2030, nothing could be better than this meeting aimed at strengthening the skills of a large number of teachers and, in turn, better preparing young Indians for international studies and giving them access to a wider range of professional opportunities!" said Mr. Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens.
“I wholeheartedly support this international training initiative, empowering educators to elevate French language education with excellence and cross-cultural understanding." Said Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla.
The topics which will be covered during the training program include - creative writing as a pedagogical tool, Placing Francophonie at the centre of French language learning, Pedagogy for large groups and differentiated instruction in language classes, Full utilization of the FLE Textbook: strategies and techniques, Implementing the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in the classroom to evaluate and motivate learners, and Teaching French for Specific Purposes (FSP).
