The top slots are secured by Harvard University, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and others. Texas A&M University has also ranked high and it leads in all in-state universities.

Study in US: The higher education research and consulting firm American Caldwell has compiled and released the latest Global University Visibility Rankings which includes the list of most recognized universities in the world. While the first position is secured by Harvard University, Texas A&M University has also improved its ranking from 25 last year to 21th position this year.

The ranking is about how visible a university is based on the size of its online footprint, level of public interest, news mentions, Social media followers and visits to the university’s main website.

Texas A&M University in Global University Visibility Rankings Details

The university has ranked 14th in the US and has scored 14,558,068 in visibility due to 2.2 million followers on the official LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, 9.6 million visits to the official website tamu.edu. Other achievements which contributed to this score include a huge public interest in the university reflected by around 500,000 search engine queries performed each month, and around 30,000 news mentions which include on TV, radio broadcasts, blogs and newswires, also mentions in print, online journals and national and international newspapers. Online citations and video views on YouTube have also contributed to this score.

Following are the top 10 universities as per this ranking:

  1. Harvard University
  2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  3. Stanford University
  4. Columbia University
  5. University of Oxford
  6. Cornell University
  7. University of Cambridge
  8. Universidade de São Paulo
  9. Purdue University
  10. King Saud University

The top 3 universities in this list have retained the same rankings as during the previous year. However, Columbia University has jumped to fourth position from 9th during last year's ranking. The University of Oxford has improved from 8th place to 5th place. Cornell University has dropped from 4th to 6th position,

The University of Cambridge has improved from 16th rank last year to 7th this year. Universidade de São Paulo improved from 11th to 8th, and Purdue University has climbed one position up, from 10 to 9th place.
