Government of Denmark offers scholarships for international students
To be considered for the scholarship offered by the Government of Denmark, the person must be a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA (the European Economic Area) or Switzerland.
The University of Copenhagen is offering the Government of Denmark Scholarship opportunities for international aspirants seeking to study in Denmark. The scholarships are granted either as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or as an amount covering basic living costs throughout the study period.
Denmark is a European Union country that shares its border with Norway, Germany, and Sweden. The scholarship offered is for postgraduate and Masters courses. The candidates need to be admitted to a master’s degree programme at the University of Copenhagen and be granted a time-limited residence permit to study a higher educational programme in Denmark. The deadline to apply for the course is October 15, 2024.
8 universities that are participating under a Danish Government Scholarships for Non-EU students are - University of Copenhagen (UCPH), University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), IT University of Copenhagen (ITU), Roskilde University (RUC), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Aarhus University (AU), and Aalborg University (AAU).
Scholarships options for International Students to study in Denmark
Some of the available options for scholarships are:
- Nordplus: Nordplus may offer the possibility to study in another Nordic or Baltic country as part of your degree.
- Erasmus: It offers students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland the option to study abroad as part of their higher education in their home countries. Exchange range from between 2 and 12 months.
- Erasmus Mundus/Joint Master Degree: It is open to both EU/EEA and non-EU/EAA students to study specific master's programs.
- Fulbright Denmark: An American scholar or postgraduate student at a master's or Ph.D.-level can apply for a Fulbright grant for an entire academic year of study and/or research in Denmark.
Not eligible for Danish government scholarship if:
- You are seeking admission to an Artistic Higher Education Institution
- You are a student who is eligible for a grant by Danish Law regarding the State Education Fund
- The aspirant has a legal claim to the rights of Danish citizens
- The student has been granted a residence permit at the time of admission by the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9c, subsection 1, as the child of a foreign citizen who has been granted a residence permit in accordance with the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9m, and who is a citizen of a country that is not acceded to the EU or covered by the EEA agreement.
