India in New York develops platform for providing internships to Indian students
Study in US: This new initiative is launched to increase career opportunities for Indian students in the US. The new platform will connect Indian students with companies.
Study Abroad: The Consulate General of India has unveiled a new platform to boost Indian students' career opportunities in the US. The initiative is to provide internship opportunities to Indians who choose to study in the US.
India in New York message on X reads, "As part of the initiative to support Indian students in its jurisdiction, @IndiainNew York has developed a platform for Indian Students to find internship opportunities at companies in the USA."
The Consul General of India, New York met Congresswoman Grace Meng and discussed avenues to deepen bilateral collaboration. He appreciated her constant support to the Indian diaspora in Queens Borough, New York and also to the India-US partnership, said another message on X.
As per the official statement, seven Indian and American companies and organizations have decided to participate in this initiative to provide internship opportunities to Indian students. The government website is - https://www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/job/index. Interested applicants can apply directly to the companies as per the details given on this portal. The Consulate will have no role in selecting candidates for the internship.
Students will get opportunities in various sectors including Investment banking, IT, Non-profit, and Pharma companies.
Consulate General of India reached out to renowned doctors for support
The Consulate General of India has reached out to some of the well-known doctors in its Jurisdiction. These doctors have agreed to help Indian students enrolled in 10 states in the USA (Consulate’s Jurisdiction) with consultations and psychiatry counselling.
"Indian students may reach out to the doctors directly with the Consulate General’s reference. It may please be noted that this initiative is aimed at assisting the Indian student community and that the Consulate does not hold any responsibility for the outcome of the case," reads the official statement.
The name of these doctors are Dr. Malini Prabhu (MD, MRCPSYCH) Psychiatrist, Dr. Malti Mehta (MD) Psychiatrist, Dr. Vasudher Makhija (MD) Psychiatrist South Asian Mental Health Initiative & Network (SAMHIN), Dr. Amarjot Surdhar (MD) Psychiatrist, Dr. Synny Kaza (MD) Counselor, and Dr. Krish Soundarajan (MD) Vascular Surgeon.
