Indian Embassy officials met medical students in Bishkek; Urge students, families not to pay attention to rumours

India in the Kyrgyz Republic has urged students and their families to not pay attention to rumours being spread by some mischievous elements. The officials have also met the medical students in Bishkek.

The Embassy of India Bishkek released an official statement regarding the recent incidents of violence against foreign students in Bishkek. It stated that due to swift action by the Kyrgyz authorities, the situation in Bishkek has returned to normal.

Though there are no restrictions on the movement of transport or people as a measure of precaution, the classes are being conducted in an online mode.

One of the messages replying to the official statement said, “If situation are normal than why are classes is being conducting online mode.. and Kyrgyz govt Swiftly work hahaha. Should I post the video where the person who pick up call on helpline no. That is issued by you and that person said we won't work at night ..contradictory!!.”

The official statement said that a large number of Indian students join medical and other universities in the Kyrgyz Republic for further studies. Currently, there are nearly 17,000 Indian students in the Kyrgyz Republic spread across many cities, mostly in Bishkek. No untoward incident has been reported in Bishkek during the past few days.








“Continuing with outreach activity, Embassy Officials met Indian medical students at Royal Metropolitan University on 22 May. They were informed that flights to India from Bishkek were operational, advised to follow university guidelines and contact Embassy, if needed,” reads a message by India in Kyrgyz Republic on X platform.







“Embassy Officials met Indian students in Avicenna International Medical University in Bishkek on 22 May to address their concerns. Students were advised to follow the instructions issued by the University. In case of any issue, they were told to contact the Embassy,” said another message on X.

Air connectivity to India remains operational

The Embassy said that the air connectivity between Bishkek and Delhi remains operational and flights to India can also be availed via Dubai, Almaty, Istanbul, Sharjah and Tashkent. The local transport to Manas International Airport in Bishkek remains accessible to Indian students.

If any student is planning to travel back to India, they must contact their respective universities about the formalities. In case any assistance is needed, the students are requested to contact the Embassy.
