Ireland gaining popularity as study abroad destination among Indian students
While popular study-abroad destinations like UK, Australia, and Canada are busy making changes in their immigration policy, countries like Ireland are emerging as popular study-abroad destinations for Indian students. The country provides some of the best universities with vibrant culture and job opportunities after completing the courses.
Higher Education Authority data shows that around 72,000 students graduated in Ireland in 2021, of these slightly over 10,000 were international students. In 2022, nearly 5,000 Indian students were studying in Ireland, as per the report of Ministry of External Affairs data. This number is projected to increase tenfold in 10 years, which means the number of international students is only going to increase in Ireland. However, there are some challenges including cost of living and accommodation.
“We understand the concerns and obstacles that students face when making such life-changing leaps to study in a different country and culture. As an education adviser, I have seen many students start their journey with us each year, and I can confidently say that studying in Ireland is a fantastic adventure that helps you grow as a student, a professional, and a person," added Aritra Ghosal.
Greg Van Buskirk, international student experience officer, Technological University Shannon Global, “We are fully committed to providing all the support needed to make students feel at ease."
