Monash University Announces Launch Of Monash India Plan To Strengthen Indo-Pacific Future
Monash University has unveiled its plan to strengthen ties with key Indian government ministries and Indian corporations to support new study opportunities for Australian and Indian students, improve innovation and build joint research projects.
Study in Australia: Monash University has announced the launch of the Monash India Plan. Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Sharon Pickering, Senior Vice President, Professor Craig Jeffrey, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) announced this during the visit of Jason Clare MP, Australia’s Federal Minister for Education and Dharmendra Pradhan, Indian Minister of Education, to the Monash’s Clayton campus.
“It was a tremendous honour to welcome both The Honourable Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, India’s Minister of Education, and his Australian counterpart Minister Clare, to Monash University,” said Professor Pickering.
“India is a country that shares fundamental values with Australia and both countries are seeking a much closer relationship. There is a crucial opportunity for our two countries to positively influence the future of the Indo-Pacific, and our Monash India Plan signals a new beginning for this work,” added the Professor.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and Senior Vice President, Professor Craig Jeffrey, said, “Monash’s engagement with India was ready to enter a new stage.”
"There's never been a better time for Australia and India to build educational partnerships,” said Professor Jeffrey.
“These two countries – at two corners of Asia – share a central passion: Impactful education and impactful research,” added Professor Jeffrey.
Monash India Plan’s Vision
Following are the vision of Monash India Plan:
- Monash University is working to build stronger ties with more than 60 top schools in India, foster innovative learning opportunities and expand student mobility.
- To offer exceptional educational opportunities to Indian students to access education in Australia and provide them with real-world experience through its Global Immersion Guarantee and Transnational Education partnerships.
- The university wants to motivate the upcoming leaders to address the pressing global issues which comprise climate change. It will offer access to the university’s world-class education through the innovative ‘Change It Challenge’.
Monash Plans To Partner With Various Indian Ministries
The university has announced its plan for the next five years when it is planning to partner with industries in India and various ministries including Defence, Education, Information Technology, and Electronics to boost links between industry and academia in the areas of digital information, sustainable development and healthcare innovation.
All these will be built on the university’s existing alliance with India Institute of Technology on the IITB-Monash Research Academy and also the research collaborations such as training in railway engineering through the Monash Institute of Railway Technology (IRT), The Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub, and the Centre for Innovation on Environment and Intelligent Manufacturing with Tata Steel.
