Obama Foundation Scholars announced for 2024-25; 30 selected from UChicago and Columbia
From a record number of applications, the Obama Foundation Scholars program has selected 18 leaders from the University of Chicago and 12 scholars from the Columbia University.
Study in US: For its seventh cohort of the Obama Foundation Scholars program, the foundation received a record number of applications. The selected scholars are 30 emerging leaders. Of these 18 are from the University of Chicago from across Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, Harris School of Public Policy, and Booth School of Business.
At Columbia University, a total of 12 Scholars from 12 countries are selected.
While commenting on this, Wafaa El-Sadr, Executive Vice President of Columbia Global, stated, "The need for innovative, determined leaders has never been greater. This cohort of Scholars represent the kind of thinkers and doers who are essential for navigating and addressing complex issues by bringing fresh perspectives, bold ideas, and a deep commitment to making the world a better place."
Obama Foundation Scholars: More Details
The selected scholars will get a chance to engage in an immersive curriculum at either the University of Chicago or Columbia University throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
For the first time, the scholar's cohort has scholars from Fiji, Italy, Haiti, Morocco, and Malaysia. The scholarship program equips students with tools, practical skills and experiences that will strengthen their impact once they return to their communities.

Out of 18 scholars from the University of Chicago, 10 are planning to continue their work in Chicago. The expansive curriculum of the scholarship program will let the scholars from the University of Chicago delve into the connection between global impact and local involvement and provide innovative solutions to complex issues.
The 12 scholars at the Columbia Universitybia will get training to build new capacities, knowledge, and skills.
