Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan offers Spring 2025 Internship

Study Abroad: Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) in Japan is offering Spring 2025 Research Internship for candidates who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree and are in their last two years of the program, enrolled in any junior colleges, colleges, master’s degree or vocation schools. Those who have completed their bachelor’s and master’s degrees are also eligible for the internship.

The Spring 2025 Internship is open to both international and domestic students. The applicants must provide approval from their respective institutes if they are currently enrolled in the program. Also, the academic background of the applicant should be as per the desired host unit (s) at OIST.

Spring 2025 Internship Supports

The following supports are available for the interns - commuting allowance which is the OIST Shuttle Bus Pass, Internship Allowance of 2,400 JPY per working day, furnished accommodation on or off campus, round trip air ticket, and administrative support.

Application Process and Document Requirements

The institute accepts online applications only. The applicants first need to create an account, be ready with documents in PDF format which should be in English and upload it on the website. The application can be completed in a single session or can also be completed over multiple sessions.








The following documents need to be submitted while filling out the application form:

  • Transcript and Diploma: The applicants must submit scanned copies of academic transcripts of graduation, master's, or diploma in PDF format. “If you have not graduated and do not have a diploma yet, please upload a certificate of enrollment from your institution, preferably indicating your expected graduation date,” said the official statement.
  • Statement of Purpose: It should be of maximum of 400 words and address the following - how this internship fits into your overall plans, what you expect to accomplish at the university and how OIST and preferred units fit with your current skill set and expertise.
  • Recommendation Letter: The candidates must provide one or up to a maximum of three recommendation letters. Ensure that you get proper permission and enter the correct email information as they will get a message from the institute.
  • Passport: The applicant must upload a scanned passport photo page and provide the passport number.
  • Photo: Upload a recent photo.
