The National Academy of Inventors award is the highest professional distinction awarded only to academic inventors. Two Purdue University faculty members have been awarded this prestigious award.

Purdue University Faculty Members Named National Academy Of Inventors

Study in US: Two of Purdue University faculties Edward Delp and Arun Ghosh have received the prestigious National Academy Of Inventors award.

Edward Delp is a professor of biomedical engineering and the Charles William Harrison Distinguished Professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Arun Ghosh is a professor of medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology and the Ian P. Rothwell Distinguished Professor of Chemistry.

While commenting on this, Delp, who is also director of Purdue’s Video and Image Processing Laboratory said, “I am deeply honored to be named an NAI fellow. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of my colleagues, collaborators and students over the years. I am grateful for the support of Purdue University, which has provided an environment that fosters innovation and impact.”

Delp research has led to crucial advancements in the applications related to national security and health care. He is known for his pioneering work in video processing, image, medical imaging and multimedia security. He has authored over 600 scholarly publications and holds numerous patents.

Ghosh also commented on the award, “This recognition by the NAI underscores the importance of advancing chemistry and drug discovery research to save lives and improve health outcomes. I am humbled by the honor and very grateful for my colleagues and collaborators and the support of Purdue for fostering an environment that encourages innovation and supports transformative research.”







He has authored over 400 research publications in areas including SARS/COVID-19, Alzheimer’s disease, and HIV/AIDS, and holds over 70 U.S. patents in chemistry and medicinal chemistry.

"Both researchers have worked with the Purdue Innovates Office of Technology Commercialization to protect the cutting-edge research and intellectual property they developed and hope to advance to the global marketplace. OTC experts vet the intellectual property, apply for IP protection if needed, and find commercial partners that license it and bring it to market," says the official statement of Purdue University.
