The Stanford University Rankings are based on the impact of the scientists' research and how their researches are recognized by the international scientific community. Stanford University annually creates a list of the most influential researchers in the world. This year more than 65 scientists from Pune are in the top 2% in the world.

Study in US: Stanford Ranking 2024 of the World's Top 2% Scientists released recently. More than 65 scientists from Pune made it to the top 2% of scientists in the world. Every year Stanford university creates such lists from a total of 8 million researchers based on the impact of their research and how their work was recognized and cited by the international scientific community.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has 14 scientists on this list, Symbiosis International University (SIU) has 11, National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) - 12, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA)-9, Indian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER) - 4, DY Patil Vidyapeeth - 4, one each from Armed Forces Medical College, KEM Hospital, College of Engineering Pune (COEP), and Pulmocare Research and Education (PURE) Foundation, as reported by Indian Express.

Stanford University Rankings Details

The list has 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. India this year has 5,352 scientists on the list as against 4,635 in 2023. A total of 2,23,252 scientists in the world are in the top 2% of the world from across all fields.








Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) also has six faculty members on this list. Vice-chancellor Pragati Kumar of SMVDU commented, “We are incredibly proud of our faculty members who have earned this global distinction. Their dedication to excellence in research reflects SMVDU’s mission to advance knowledge and innovation for the betterment of society," as reported by Hindustan Times.







Two ophthalmologists from Hyderabad, Gullapalli N. Rao and Santosh G. Honavar are at the top of the Stanford List of Researchers in Ophthalmology for India. 34 faculty members of Lovely Professional University (LPU) have also made to this list. Last year, 22 of its members of LPU were in this list. LPU’s Founder Chancellor & Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal expressed gratitude and congratulated the faculty members.
